WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY
5 * Captains Cottage

We booked Captains Cottage for a 4 night break. It really is a superb, lovely cottage tucked off the road, ideally positioned for visiting everywhere in Cornwall. Very dog friendly, outstanding decor inside. We enjoyed our break so much, we have rebooked for May next year.

Captains Cottage is located in peaceful countryside, and there are lovely beach’s and woodland walks close by for you and the dogs. Ideal for visiting, Seaton, Cawsand, Kingsand. A beautiful part of the country for a holiday. We loved the log burner it’s a deal breaker for us.

Fantastic Holiday!
Danielle & Louise S
As the other reviews testify, Captains Cottage was the ideal base for us to explore the beautiful local area and beyond (the coastal walk from Looe to Polperro was particularly stunning). Kitted out with everything needed to make our stay as home from home as possible, Sam & Jane were the perfect hosts both in communication and with the little touches like scones and cream on arrival to welcome us. Thoroughly recommend!

Wow! Excellent!

What a beautiful cottage! Clean and perfect in every way. We were even provided milk, scones, cream and jam to make us feel welcome. The owners provided all the information we need to know about the area which was a great help. A few minutes drive to all the beautiful beaches and just down the lane to the nearest farm shop and pub - The Copley Arms which is well worth a visit serving good food. A wonderful relaxing holiday 10/10

Perfect Stay

Had a fabulous holiday as a family of 5. 3 kids age 10, 15 and 17. Cottage had everything you could possibly need. Comfy beds, TV with Netflix for evening films. Fans for warmer evenings and log burner for the one chillier evening. A nice walk to local beach ( 40 mins) and bus ride back. Looe was 5 mins drive and we enjoyed several days and evenings there. Nice courtyard/garden and we enjoyed a bbq one evening. Great breakfast at the local farm shop cafe which you could walk to or couple of minutes drive. Star gazing was fabulous as location so secluded with no light pollution. Great communication with owners. Nothing to dislike to be honest. Oh and a lovely welcome pack on arrival!

Fab Holiday!

Finally got to visit Captains Cottage after Covid interrupted my original plans, but well worth the wait. This beautiful cottage, situated down a quiet Cornish lane, close enough to everything you could possibly need, it was well worth the visit. If you want a holiday home that lives up to the expectation of your own home then this is for you. Everything you could possibly want or need is provided. Decorated with style, sleeps five comfortably My three dogs go everywhere at home, but slept happily contentedly downstairs I took their beds they settled really well. Sam is on hand for any help queries and responds quickly. The dogs loved their complementary treats and the welcome pack on arrival was very much appreciated. Thank you!

What a gem of a find!! This spotlessly clean, comfy, spacious, peaceful cottage will recharge anybody. Close to lots of places to visit and eat. The local pub The Copley Arms was so friendly and lovely food. I loved the little court yard and spent a lot of time just unwinding and reading and listening to the amazing wildlife. The service received from the owners was second to none. Will certainly book again.

Perfect Cottage!

We loved our stay at the cottage. There were four of us and a dog and it was the perfect space. Great location and only a short drive to a dog friendly beach. There were some great touches by the owners like some bits in the fridge and even some dog treats. A lovely rental in a very peaceful area of Cornwall.

Perfect Cottage, Perfect Location

As soon as you walk in the cottage it has the wow factor, it’s so ciean and tidy and decorated beautifully. The fresh roses at the kitchen table were a nice touch as was the welcome pack with Cornish treats.the owners have thought of everything, even provided cling film etc , handwash , washing up liquid , so no need to bring your own. The two large bedrooms again were decorated In keeping with the area, in fact our daughter loved the lighthouse lamp in the bedroom so much that we bought her one for her bedroom back hone. The area is lovely , we spent most of our time in Looe, we took the car to West Looe , parked at the roadside by the cafe ( free parking) and took the short walk into the town, it just stayed by the beach which is dog friendly. We had such a lovely relaxing holiday , thank you .

Perfect Country Hideaway
Matt H
My wife, dog & I were looking for a place to quietly see out the year & welcome in the next, with enough room for the possibility of being joined by 'grown up' children during the stay. The cottage itself is beautifully furnished, and everything has been thought of. I can't speak of the pubs & restaurants as the area went into Tier 3 covid restrictions shortly after we arrived, but there are plenty of places to buy supplies, including the local farm shop. The walking in the area is superb (though hilly), whether it's, coastal, river banks, woods or across fields - the dog loved it! And we all loved coming back to the log burning stove!

Stylish and comfortable in quiet scenic location

Quiet location found only 5 minutes off the main road, just the occasional passing farm vehicle down a quiet country lane with plenty of passing places. Cottage well equipped, tasteful and comfortable with a cute little private courtyard which was fully enclosed which was great for our little canine escape artists. Walking distance to the pub and beach - fine for those that are used to walking, only a short drive to the beautiful Seaton Beach - my favourite. A short walk up the lane led to a beautiful panoramic sea vista which we discovered after a couple of days. Cottage was cosy and warm when we needed the heating which was only one day of our week stay. Boot room ideal for all of our extra stuff with additional fridge and large freezer, also very useful. Owner very responsive and appropriately attentive. Recommend a visit to Cawsand Kingsand to the far east of the county, loads of pub lunch options and you can wile away the hours watching the ships go by. Nearby Seaton and Downderry were great dog walking beaches 100% wouldn't hesitate to recommend onwards.

Fantastic Stay, Stylish Cottage!

Lovely week spent week at Captains Cottage at the end of August! We received very generous welcome gifts when we arrived which were much appreciated after a long drive! The accommodation was located down a rural country lane. The cottage was beautifully decorated and spotless! Full of character, stylishly furnished and very comfortable! It was a pleasure to relax in after a busy day out! Everything was catered for, even a torch! Great local pub and not too far from the beaches, we drove to both, didn’t fancy walking to either! The dogs loved the beaches too!! A very short drive to the local farm shop that had everything we needed! When we turned off the lights at night it was so dark and so quiet! Perfect!

Fantastic Short Break!
Vicki T
I booked this break some time ago - SO glad I did! The cottage is beautiful, everything as new . Loved the stunning, convenient location. Spotlessly clean. We did find it an adventurous walk to the beach, but I suppose it all depends on your fitness level 😊 And in any case it was a five minute drive if you prefer - I am booking for 2 weeks next year - highly recommend it 😊
